      I would have to say language! everything we have achieved relies on our ability to transmit information and communicate. A close second would be writing: Out of the 200 thousand or so years we have been on earth, we have only been able to write for the last 6 thousand years more or less!!!
      Isn’t that amazing?

      The number zero. It might sound like a really obvious concept to you now, but it actually took people a really long time to come up with. The Romans never had it at all! It was difficult to understand that it needed to be a number itself, and not just nothing. But without it, our system of maths wouldn’t work, and all the science we do would be much harder (if not impossible!).
