Time is very important for lots of things. We use time for everything from knowing when to leave the house to catch the bus, to using smartphones to find our locations.

Depending on where you are, time runs at different speeds. We can even see this on Earth. If you put a really accurate clock on top of a mountain, we can see that time runs faster than at sea level. Also, the faster you travel, the more time slows down. This is called time dilation. These differences in time are tiny unless you’re travelling either really fast (like near the speed of light) or standing next to something really massive (like a black hole)!

By studying time, we can learn more about the universe. There are some really exciting discoveries to be made.
